I have been coveting a turquoise retro breadbox for some time. After recently purchasing one, I thought it was too much money so I returned it. My parents had a breadbox given to them as a wedding gift; a mid century modern wood grain looking metal with a mirrored door and wooden handle. I thought it was worth a try to ask for it. She said yes! Get ready for my epic retro breadbox makeover.

Grab You Favorite Spray Paint
Ready to get my DIY craft makeover started, we bought my favorite spray paint, Rust-oleum in Aqua to cover the wood grain body of the breadbox.

Transformation in Two Steps
Don’t forget to cover the front of the breadbox door with paper and tape its sides as well. I left it to my husband to do the spray painting. It didn’t take long (maybe two coats) until it was covered and looking fabulous. The wooden handle was also spray painted black. What an amazing home decor upgrade this was! We went from dated dark wood grain to fresh, bright, retro breadbox beauty.

With spring just around the corner, I couldn’t resist the “Hello Spring” napkins from President’s Choice. They matched my new retro breadbox perfectly.

Get your own “Enjoy the Little Things” 11oz mug in my storefront because I know you need this reminder as much as I do!

Don’t forget to grab your FREE PRINTABLE 2018 Calendar from the Free Printables Gallery Page. Pictured here is a scaled down version for March, used with a magnet on the front of the breadbox. You will find a ton of other FREE goodies as well; another 2018 Calendar, cards, gift tags, quote prints and watercolour art.
