How to Create a Perfectly Curated Gallery Wall

As the seasons change, and as we change and grow, our environment needs to reflect that inner and out transformation. Creating a stunning gallery wall is one of the easiest ways to do a room refresh. Your home speaks of your desires, dreams and intentions so make an impact with your creative message through art. Through creating a perfectly curated gallery wall, I am thrilled to introduce you to my latest series of art work called DREAM BIG. Dream Big represents the creative journey towards accomplishing a risky, bold goal.

In addition to these basic tips that work for any gallery wall arrangement, I will give you a quick guide to creating a curated gallery wall; one that reflects the specific theme and style of my new series DREAM BIG.

CURATE YOUR PERFECT GALLERY WALL

The gallery wall that I am featuring today follows the theme, Dream Big and therefore every piece of art is specific to that theme. Start by asking yourself, “what message do I want to convey with my presentation?” Do you want to be intentional or random? Also, how much area do I want to cover? What is my budget? What items do I already possess that I could use?

Style & Sizing

First, envision your style. Do you like a mix of sizes or like to keep every frame the same size? How about the finish for frames? Are your tastes more modern or traditional? Once you answer these questions you can start to envision the arrangement of you art. As you can see from the picture, the style is more traditional with a mix of sizes and finishes. When it comes to choosing your prints to fill the frames, it is important to find some standard sized art (5 x 7 and 8 x 10). Also, are there different sizes available with the same print?

Anchor Point – Introducing the Theme

Sometimes the piece of art that ties all of the other pieces together is a specific message and sometimes it is just one piece that stands out and is a favorite. For this gallery wall arrangement, I went with the theme of my latest collection titled, Dream Big. Dream Big encapsulates going after my one creative goal; the journey towards dreaming bigger than ever before. This was taking a risk of daring to envisioning a life of freedom and created purpose; living out my dream of becoming a licensed surface pattern designer.

The Robin Print, titled RELEASE, shown here in a 5 x 7 size, reflects my decision to live above fear, to release it’s hold on me, to give myself permission to be free. I have to choose to live in the moment, celebrate the success of my journey and embrace the endless possibilities of my creative gifting to the world. Titled TRUST, this Robin’s Eggs Nest in an 8 x 10 size speaks of the waiting amidst the journey; the contemplation and wrestling before you take flight. Our journey is held and nurtured in a protective nest, until we release of our gift to the world. Life can be beautiful in the waiting. Trust the wait, embrace the journey my friend.

Mixed Media

If you want your art to have a specific thematic impact, mix it with typographical prints as well. This careful planning reminds the brain of the messages that your individual art pieces are conveying. This gallery wall is in a very intentional space that is my office, therefore I want my space to speak to my creative purpose.

The theme remains the same but without the typographical prints.
