Do you want to create a stunning centrepiece but don’t know where to start? Or you want to incorporate a fall color scheme that doesn’t throw your whole decor off? I hear you ladies! To be totally honest, I have never been excited for fall. And I do hate to say good-bye to summer. You know, flowers, sun, shorts. So, I wanted to create an Easy DIY Farmhouse Chic centrepiece but without throwing off my decor scheme.

1. Start With a Foundation
I had previously made a “Family Rules” sign from authentic barn board that was hanging in our dining room. It was the perfect colour, finish and feel for the centre of this shabby chic, (yet hint of) farmhouse theme. And the verses tie into our family’s foundation for living. You could also substitute a large basket, wood crate or tray as your foundation.

2. Flowers or Greenery
We have a willow tree that is young and growing fast but one of the larger bottom branches broke off and here is where I found my greenery. The white flowers are the only remaining blooming remnant of my front flower bed. You could also purchase a small affordable greenery bouquet from your local grocery store.
3. Use What you Already Have
I had various votive holders and jars in other spots in the house and I brought them together. Turquoise, white, antiqued silver or glass would work with this setting.
4. Grab Your Craft Supplies
I had remembered how easy it was to create the round cactus for “How to Fake a Green Thumb 101“, and I thought to myself, “this would easily double as a pumpkin come fall”.
From my left over craft felt, I cut two circles big enough to make a decent sized pumpkin (6-8″ in diameter).
1. Sew a basic stitch around the edge in order to gather it together.
2. Fill the centre with poly fill and tighten the thread.
3. Once knotted off, with a doubled thread, bring the thread (after secured on the stitched side) through the bottom and up the middle of the pumpkin.
4. Repeat this eight times, each thread equal distance from each other. Tighten the thread each time to create the groove. then knotted the thread to the side bottom.
I chose pink and moss green felt to compliment to the turquoise tones of the glassware and the sign. I went on a hunt in the treed backyard for two branches to be hot glue gunned on for the stems.

5. What is Missing?
Take some pictures with what you have from different angles and then ask what is missing. I felt this “Easy DIY Farmhouse Chic Centrepiece” display needed some more metallic to up the chic factor and more pumpkins to round out the display. I did make two purchases with this in mind; a silver, metallic pumpkin and an affordable bag of cream ornamental pumpkins, both from my favorite grocery store. I did end up using chalk paint on the two of the pumpkins in a pale turquoise.
