Summer entertaining outside should be relaxing, easy and effortless. I have just the DIY craft for you to make your outdoor entertaining a breeze (and make your guest jealous of your home decor talents!). Follow along with this four step tutorial to create the perfect DIY drink tray for all of your entertaining needs.
I am sure all of you have a serving tray that you would rather dispose of than use with your guests. This tray was definitely not a favorite of mine. The colours were okay, but the pattern was dated. So I found a couple pieces of scrapbook paper at Michaels for $.99 each and I knew I had a bottle of Mod Podge matte as well. I knew it would be a quick and easy DIY craft and I was right.
1. First step is to cut your paper to the size of the inner bottom part of the tray. I used two 12×12 sheets as one wasn’t quite enough. It helps to use a repeating pattern or a busy one so that you can’t see where the two pieces line up.
2. Squirt out some Mod Podge onto the surface of the tray. Put enough on to cover the entire surface once it is brushed out evenly. You can apply with brush or sponge applicator.
3. Place the cut pieces of the paper onto the glue. It helps to work out any bubbles from the middle moving out towards the edge using a credit card.
4. Before the glue underneath is dry, put the same amount of glue on top of the paper. Spread out evenly with the paint brush again. Let dry. You can use a clear acrylic sealer over top once the Mod Podge is dry. I opted not to.

How to Style Your Drink Tray
Have fun using what you have in your home decor stash to create the perfect DIY drink tray. I used some 1960’s blue retro glass wear that belonged to my in-laws, my grandmother’s handmade tablecloth and my blue Ball Mason jar with peonies and delphiniums. And of course some fresh raspberries from our garden. Total cost with the cute umbrellas was $2.48!!
Mod Podge is so easy and effortless for so many DIY crafts. What will you create with it this summer?
