Have you ever had a giddy feeling over something that you have created? Like a moment of “I can’t believe I made this!” There really isn’t anything like it. We have this ability as creative to make something out of nothing and that is quite amazing. As you may know, I created my first pattern collection last year. I had some difficulty with getting the colors just right for a while. So, join with my in child like excitement as I share reveal Blooming & Becoming Fabric Swatches.

If you look around you right now, you will see patterns everywhere; on clothing, home goods, stationary, wallpaper and fabric. I honestly have been fascinated for years with how that artwork was able to be transferred to all of these lovely items. And I wondered, who are these artists?
Discovering Bonnie Christine
Discovering Bonnie Christine (Surface Pattern Design Guru and Educator) and her *Immersion course was life changing for me. In her gentle, kind and overly generous way, she helped me believe that I could take my artwork and create repeating patterns. I learned Adobe Illustrator from scratch and once I got the hang of it, I loved it!

Story of Blooming & Becoming
Blooming and Becoming was created from my love of flowers, gardening, sewing, cross stitch and vintage treasures. My patterns reflect three generations of sewing and crafting by hand. Each pattern name reflects my journey through my goal of becoming a surface pattern designer. Woven into this theme is seeing the hand of God and his provisions through this journey.
The first colorway from Blooming and Becoming fabric swatches is in a cotton poplin from Spoonflower.

Envisioning Projects
As an avid sewer, I have always had difficulty finding fabrics that suited my taste, were reasonably priced and locally available. Now, as I look at my own fabric, I can envision so many possibilities. And I want to order all of them!

Can you see this cross stitch, “Majestic Handiwork” in a flowing silk kimono? Or the Dandelion seed, “Hope in Flight” in a summer top? All of the swatches below are in a Cotton Poplin Fabric from Spoonflower.
I have put together a short video to see the flow and detail of the cotton poplin in Beauty Unfolding.
The second colorway, “Becoming” was ordered in a Petal Signature Cotton from Spoonflower. I prefer this cotton over the Cotton Poplin as the colors are more crisp and vibrant.

My favorite from the Becoming colorway, is Behold the Beauty. I have big plans to sew a summer top for my daughter from this delicate floral print.

Thank you so much for allowing me to share my work with you. I look forward to sharing more as I start to create projects.
Even though I share a lot of freebies and tutorials, I held back for years sharing my creations because I feared failure. As creatives, you and I can be held back due to negative thinking. It might look like comparing your ability to others or not having the confidence to pursue your creative talent or putting your creations out into the world.
