I would have to say that this time of the year is my favorite. Everything is starting to bloom and brighten up our world. I was driving out of my yard today and was surprised (and scared my hubby) with a “Oh! They’re blooming!” referring of course to the Alberta Wild Roses in a huge mass in our front yard. As soon as I could, I went out and picked a bunch. The fragrance of these wild roses are so bright and sweet. It brings back nostalgic feelings of wild flower adventures with my mom. I knew I wanted to display them beautifully to do them justice. Below are unique ways that I used what I had to style 5 vintage inspired floral displays.
1. Pop of Colour
First, I used my antique (thrift store treasure) turquoise blue bowl and put a couple blooms in. This turquoise blue is such a lovely contrast with the pink.
2. Tea Cups
Next I pulled out a few tea cups to use as vases. I will use any excuse to bring out my grandmother’s tea cups. The first one is called Blossom Time by Royal Albert China and the second one is Wheatcroft Roses “Prelude” by Roslyn Fine Bone China
3. Crystal
My mother gave me a tiny vintage crystal vase from when she was a young girl and this was my third option for displaying these glorious beauties. The crystal is dainty with a lovely leaf pattern etched on the rim.

4. Milk Glass
For the fourth option, I used my milk glass vases to display the rest. Each vase has a story, some are from my Grandmother and some are from the thrift store. I love that they are different sizes and shape and work together with many different arrangements, even without flowers.
5. Lace Doilies
Lastly, I used lace doilies made by my grandmother to bring the whole collection together. This would make a lovely centrepiece for a birthday or shower. Doilies, if styled with other modern and vintage pieces are timeless. I love the romantic notion of throwing the rosebuds at random on the lace tablecloth as well.
I hope these blooms brighten your day and inspire you to create your own vintage themed arrangements with what may be just out your back door.
